Questions from a new tour player
Hello everyone. This is my first go at playing in an offline tour. With that being said, i have a few questions for you all.
1. Do i need a new golfer made, and do i name him the same as my fourm name?
2. I know i have to send in files..... but what files and where do i find them??
3. What is a LTS File and where does it go?
Sorry for all the questions, but i just dont have a clue.
Thanks,
Mark J

Answers... for the new tour player :-)
Welcome on board m8!
Well, having played the Offline Tour of all offline tours for a year, I'll have a go with your questions:
1. It would be a good idea to create a specific golfer for the Offline Tour, named so that you can find him each time. The name appearing in the scoreboard will always be your real name, as far as I know. But I guess Daz (Tour admin) will answer that more precisely...
2. You only need to send in your VER.file after each round, but when using the LTS file for the play this will automatically be possible in the end of the round, since the LTS file is programmed to offer this to you. You might need to send in your player.pin file the first time you send in a round score too.
3. The LTS file is downloaded from the Offline Tour site, normally here:
http://www.offlinetour.co.uk/TournamentFiles.htm
4. Once downloaded, then make sure to save it in your C:\...Documents/Links 2003 directory. This is normally where Links itself will search the LTS file, when you start up the game through "E-mail Tourney" option in the "Play Game" section of Links 2003. The LTS file is a small file containing references to the actual course, the pins, conds etc. for the actual round to be played for a specific 4-round tournament. As mentioned the file also contains a "send verification mail-app", which is useful when ending your round.
Remember that you can also use the LTS file for online play, which I always find amusing, when able to do so (pending on the time available, lol)
I'm sure Daz or one of the other guys will fill you in with the additional info very soon...
Good luck with your first tourney m8!

Re: Questions from a new tour player
Welcome aboard Mark.
JC has more or less covered it.
Name your tour player whatever you see fit, I have no particular naming convention for the tour.
After the round, I just need the .VER that the round generates (or a score.txt file if the .VER fails) and also any saved shots that you may wish to submit for the bonus shot categories.
If you wish to partake in the optional Pro-Am events, you will also need to download the Pro-Am CPU Pro-Am players ZIP from the Tournament LTS Files page - http://www.offlinetour.co.uk/TournamentFiles.htm - then when you go to play the round, you select one of the four players as your partner and play the round in Alt-Shot format and after the round, submit the .VER
Download links for the courses we use can be found on the Tour Courses page - http://www.offlinetour.co.uk/Courses.htm
Any more questions Mark, don't be afraid to ask. Many of us have done the Offline Tour scene for a good few years, but newbies always need guidance, and many of the members will always be willing to offer their assistance.

Re: Questions from a new tour player
Mark,
Seeing as I got your Pro-Am .ver file, I guess you figured out the answer to your question, but basically they go wherever you want to save them.
I personally have a folder in 'My Documents' called 'Offline Files' and all my .ver files for various tours I play are saved there.
