ROGANSTOWN CRASHES
This is getting interesting...
Last week I couldn't get Wraith Canyon to work...it kept crashing on the 9th or 10th hole after I had posted the Pro-Am round which crashed eight times before I finished it. ( All in all, I downloaded it from Links Corners 3 times, and APCD 3 times before I gave up.)
I thought it might have someting to do wiith the 1024 textures, but I downloaded and played Kapa'a without any trouble.
This morning I downloaded Roganstown and attempted to play a round when the same thing happened again. It crashes on the first drive...I can restart the round and finish the first hole but then it crashes on the 2nd tee with an application error and I don't recover from those. I've downloaded the course several times from each source (LC and APCD) but the same thing happens. An interesting thing about that is on the APCD site the size of the course file is 153m but the download file I get is only 145m...I wonder where that missing 8m is???
Anyway it looks like I'll miss at least half of this week's tourney!

Roganstown P-A
First...I downloaded the course from Links Corner by way of the Event Home Page. I got all 145m that was advertised and felt pretty good about playing.
Deb and I teed off on 1. I picked Deb's drive and went for the second shot...we crashed to the restart screen. I hit the restart button and it opened with me set for the second shot. I hit a six iron to 28'...sweet Deb drained the put! (-1)
2,3,4, went par, birdie, birdie (Deb was HOT!) Five crashed on the tee to a Microsoft Send/Don't Send screen. I hit Don't Send and rebooted the game.
Hit resume...we parred five, birdied six and crashed on seven with an error report " Invalid size of pixel format." I picked exit and then rebooted the game. We teed off and on the first putt it crashed again on an Application Error: "The exception Breakpoint. A breakpoint has been reached. 0x80000003 occured in the application at location 0x7c901230" I hit ok and rebooted.
We finished seven with a par. We parred eight.
Crashed again on the 9th tee, to a restart screen. So we did...birdied nine. Crashed on the tenth tee to a Microsoft Send/Don't Send screen. (I hate Microsoft aqnd refuse to communicate with the buggers...long personal, dark story here that I'll spare you!)
Rebooted...birdied the 10th!! (Deb got HOT again!)
Deb was up on eleven...we crashed to a Restart screen 3 times in a row. On the 4th crash we got an "Invalid size of pixel." message. On the 5th we got the same message and on the 6th I quit! It was crashing at the opening rendering segment of the hole.
This is what Wraith Canyon was doing to me on the 9th or tenth hole when I tried to play Round 1 there last week.
I really don't have a clue as to why this is happening...I hope what I've described will help somebody, somewhere...
Cheers!

Re: ROGANSTOWN CRASHES
Fred,
I t might also be worth posting this over at LinksCorner, as most of the community frequent there and you may have a better chance of getting the answer you require.
I for one am stumped why you get the frequent crashes as neither Wraith Canyon (BETA) or Roganstown have given me any problems.

Re: ROGANSTOWN CRASHES
Fred,
No answers I'm afraid. the only things I can contribute is that I don't believe I've ever seen any of the particular error messages that you mention any time that I've had a crash.
Also my copy of Roganstown is 147mb or 151,519KB, which I assume is the same thing (never been any good at converting KB to mb.
Have you tried un-installing and re-installing Links and the patches? (making sure to hang on to player & course files etc, of course). No idea whether that would help you though.
