Batte of the dunes chat

Post  rolle on Sun Aug 02, 2009 9:02 pm

Hello everybody! Very Happy

Looking forward to my first tournament, but also sorry to all that I won't give some challenge... Embarassed
yet.... Wink

I did some practise rounds on the 2 courses today, but still not close of getting below 100.

The drives feel ok, but I have a hard time with the chip-ins and most of all the putts
(putaverage above 40)
Usually my first put is twice as long as necessary and my 2:nd is almost half the distance to hole,
so I usually make 3 or 4 putts per hole.

Well, It's hard to be a man (a realtimeswinger I mean Very Happy )
but I hope to be able to get some feeling for it eventually

It's so fun despite my astronomical scores, Razz
now I have to go and pour out all the sand from my golfshoes....

oh my.... Rolling Eyes

The Pro-am round was great fun, my AI takes care of the strokes that I suck big time in.... Laughing
Very fun indeed, despite a triple bogey on one hole Cool

but my first round alone was embarrasing, The wedges and chips seemed to have turbo-effect,
almost twice the supposed distance everytime.
My LW once went 55 m. and later 95 m. and I really tried to swing the same (In the rough of course)
maybe some random effect there.

I also still have no feeling what so ever with putts, but this round I did 36 puts, not too bad for me....

well well, some day, I hope to find the feeling for it Smile

Hang on in there Roland.

I don't play RTS myself, but there are several guys here who do, and I'm sure they would be willing to pass on any advice to aid your learning.

As long as you're enjoying it, that's the name of the game.

Rolle you are doing much better than me when I tried RTS. I have no clue how to chip or putt and havent broke 100 when I played a full round and thats with pro. Good luck sticking with it.

Thank you

I really like the "realistic" part of it. Very Happy

If I would find myself on a real golfcourse I don't expect
to score par that easily, so it feels just right.... Razz

I have read the forums and I find it's common that
chip-ins and putting is the most difficult part in RTS.

This was also the first time I played the "Challenging" settings,
I had Links default earlier, so the greens felt different now,
both easier and harder, more logical I would say Smile

I have just switched back to Pro-Click from RTS, but as a real-life golfer who never got my playing handicap below 15, I find RTS to be the playing option that most relates to the demands of playing IRL. I've tried most of the other golf sims/games and none of them come near the 'feel' that playing RTS gives. Best of luck Smile

Thank you Ed
That is exactly what I am looking for Very Happy

I'm very satisfied with my last round, +11 after first 9, and then +9 more after the first 4 holes
on the back nine, but then I managed to score 5 straigth pairs Shocked Surprised Laughing

so +20 is my 3:rd best round in Links so far with RTS Very Happy

Rolle, i play RTS and i also think its the nearest of all options to golf IRL, but put my hands together to you for playing Elite level, i play champ and have thought about changing to elite but i dont have enough time to play practice rounds to plot my way round so well played, and putting is more like real golf it will come with practice. i myself know roughly how much i need to pull back my mouse for the different length of putt, but like i say the more you play the better you will become.

Thank you too Smile

Yes, putting is definately my worst part.

Recently I made a few rounds at 28-30 puts, felt very good... Smile
and then I made a 48 put-round after that Embarassed

Strokes for 50-60m are also troublesome, the LW is too long often,
but yesterday I discovered the chop-setting so it might get better now Razz

I joined the APCD-tour but there I play champ,
will be interesting to see if it's much different.
Hopefully I don't mess up my mind if the play is
much different....

And I still look for a new caddie that doesn't give me the wrong clubs Very Happy

Daz,

Just wondering if you will be posting the results for the Pro-Am for this tournament. The main event has been posted, but not the Pro-Am. Was this just an oversight or was the event canceled?

Dick,

Will be posted hopefully within the next day or two. The recent family bereavement left me behind schedule, and I'm gradually catching up on all aspects of the tour, leaderboards, merit tables etc. with the Pro-Am leaderboards from the Battle at the Dunes the next item on my agenda. Sorry it has been delayed.
