Offline Tour 2009 - Team Trophy

I have decided that this year will see a slight change to the format of the Team Trophy. Rounds will still be submitted as before, as part of the Members Trophy regular tour event for those players/reserves who have made the teams.

In the past, I used aggregate team totals from best 3 scores out of 4 for each round to determine winners. This year the event will be played using head-to-head matches with points for matches won and halved.

Summary of details is as follows

• Matches still played as ENG -vs- RoW (due to balance of membership nationalities)
• Top 4 from each qualifying table make respective team (reserves used as required using next player from qualifying list)
• Matches played as head-to-head strokeplay (4 -vs- 4) for each round of the event
• 1 point for a win, ½ point for a halved match
• Total of 16 points available with 8½ points required for victory (if match ends 8-8, result declared a tie)
• Playing order of matches denoted by order of qualifying
• Matches played as follows
• RD1 = 1 -vs- 1, 2 -vs- 2, 3 -vs- 3, 4 -vs- 4
• RD2 = 3 -vs- 1, 1 -vs- 2, 4 -vs- 3, 2 -vs- 4
• RD3 = 1 -vs- 3, 2 -vs- 1, 3 -vs- 4, 4 -vs- 2
• RD4 = 4 -vs- 1, 3 -vs- 2, 2 -vs- 3, 1 -vs- 4

This way, all 4 qualifying team members are guaranteed to participate in the event.

I don't envisage any changes to the format, so hopefully we will be good to go with rules as laid out above, when the event gets underway in Oct/Nov'09.
